The Order of St Mary

The Order of St Mary

The Order of St Mary was established in 2021, to ensure the fabric, music and ministry of St Mary’s can meet the diverse and changing needs of worshippers and visitors for the next millennium; and to provide a regular annual stream of income. So far over 40 people have joined, raising over £100,000. The level of declared commitment through membership of the Order of St Mary’s is very important and it is hoped will lead to longer term and ongoing giving.

The Order of St Mary enables people who are passionate about St Mary’s to come together to support our church at various levels and ensure our music, fabric and ministry can continue for future generations to enjoy.

Members of the Order of St Mary enjoy:

  • The chance to meet like-minded people
  • An annual service and reception

The repair and restoration of the tower

A vital restoration plan is in place and we need to raise around £1.8 million to ensure this work is completed to the highest standard and makes the building safe for visitors to the town as well as local people. While funds from the Order of St Mary will contribute to this, we are seeking additional and other sources of funding. Our priority now and over the next few months is to seek urgent and substantial assistance towards the £1.8 million restoration of the tower.

St Mary’s tower restoration is not just important, it is also urgent and full attention is now focused on this urgent repair need to enable St Mary’s to serve its community and visitors, now and in the future. Find out more here
